I have the honour to transmit to
you the enclosed copy of a letter from the Acting Superin
-tendent of the Botanical and Afforestation Department
in this Colony recommending the appointment of another
European Assistant to that Department from the 1st. of
January next.

I concur in Mr. Tutcher's opinion,
which I understand is also held by by Mr. Ford,
Superintendent of that Department, who is at present on
leave in England, and I have the honour to recommend for
your approval that another Assistant Superintendent be
placed on the Estimates for next year with the same
salary and allowances for quarters as those drawn by
Mr. Tutcher, viz.- $100 and 250 a month.
